Summer Fun!

Today Cora and I went to the Museum of Life and Science here in Durham. We were there for almost 4 hours. We played with the fog machine and in the kid zone. We saw the farm animals and the bears. Cora also "talked" with the snakes. We did it all, inside and out! I love these days we spend together!

Here are some pictures from Sunday Lunch at Wendy's house. Cora and Morgan enjoyed the splash mat, 30 minutes after eating of course!

The Best Pillow Ever

I love these pictures. Cora LOVES Daisy! She hugs her, kisses her and snuggles with her. Often she will sit beside Daisy and flop down beside her. It is so cute. We were taking a few pictures of her the other night and she must have blinked. In one of the pictures it looks like she is sleeping.

Thanks Aunt Emmie for the outfit. It is an instant favorite. Who says respectable babies can’t wear black sequins? :)

11 Months Old

Cora is eleven months old today. This has really been one of the biggest months for her. Here are her latest accomplishments.

* Walking! It is official. Cora can walk! She still crawls some but she can get around just fine with steps.
* "Talking"- She has been saying DaDa for a while now but now we feel like she really knows. She makes the sounds for a lion, elephant and a snake. The lion roar is her favorite. She will also say 'mmmm' when I am making a bottle or food for her. Besides DaDa, she knows the word, nana (for banana). She says it the whole time she is eating one and when she sees one in the fruit bowl.
* Cora continues to love the water. She will even lay down in the bathtub and put her face in the water now.

* Turning off the lights and ringing the doorbell- It's the little things, right?

Not Our Baby...

My personal favorite. I especially like how the dog stopped to watch too.

Cora has also learned how to have a tantrum. Yes, that’s right. She lies down, cries, and even throws things… She kept reaching for something on a cabinet and I told her no several times. Finally, she had enough of that "no" business and flung a fit! Coy thought all of this was a hoot so he started snapping away with the camera. Was that cruel? She may need to tell her therapist about it one day. Well, one approach to end the fit is to distract her. So I tried to give her a pacifier and she took it from me (very aggressively, I might add) and THREW it the other direction.

When the pediatrician warned us and told us how we should react to tantrums, we sort of laughed it off. Not our baby…

We all have our days

Splish Splash!

We took Cora swimming for the first time yesterday. She loved it! I was surprised. The water was a little chilly and she didn’t mind at all. We had a great time with Stacie, Regan and Carson. We definitely have a little water bug. Yay!

A Busy Long Weekend

Our girl loves watermelon! I am surprised that she is sharing!

I was writing quite a bit and decided to give it a rest for a while. A lot happened in that rest!

Cora now has four new teeth! That makes six in all. There were a few restless nights but it was pretty uneventful. She now has four on the top and two on the bottom. She is walking about five or six steps consistently and as many as 15 in a row. Her only trouble is that when she starts going the dogs like to get in her way. She is stealing the spotlight from them.

These are pictures from the park. Wow. They are twins. They are making the same face in both of these pictures.

On the Sunday before Memorial Day we met Gram at Burlington City Park. We had a picnic and enjoyed the carousel and train. I loved to go Burlington Park when I was a little girl and my even went when she was little. When Gram was little the train ride was five cents. Now it is seventy-five cents- not too bad. We had a great time.

Oh yeah, the backyard camping trip. That fizzled out. We may have to try again later.

At least we had fun playing in the tent for a while.
